Another Look at Garden of the Plantmaster (1987 version)

At Fire in the Jungle.

And for those who never got the colorized map and key released in the online version, circa 1996:

Still, all too slowly, working on our game writeup of Plantmaster at the last SoCalCon. I hope to finish it before Haley's revisit's!

Thanks!

For some reason, that map evokes the old nintendo time-slayer Legend of Zelda to me :)

@Cimm.

No rush, actually. Keep going! I appreciated your Conan (the film) review.

@ Al and the Angry Lurker:

Thanks! I craeted the map with the Superpaint program running on an old Apple LCIII of all things. :)

It took me many days making the objects (trees, mushrooms, etc.). Most of the objects are custom.

Never played Zelda BitD, so I've never seen the graphics.

Superpaint is an unrivaled program, IMO, having both paint and draw functions that intermix. I have not found a similar, or easier, program for it in the "new" systems.

Found this working on something else, thought you might enjoy the waft from other gardens...

That was a good read, Bombasticus. Thanks.

Stand out sentences for me: "It is doubtful if he ever really desired travel for travel's sake. If he had done so, he would have made the effort. I don't think he had the need to travel. For what shall it profit a man if he shall tour the whole world and never see the lichens on the nearest stones?"
